Our Mission and Vision
To build Calgary’s leading hub for authentic Punjabi folk dance, rooted in culture, discipline, and pride.
At Folkcrew Dance Academy, we are dedicated to preserving and promoting Punjabi culture through dance and music. Our aim is to teach authentic Punjabi folk dances and traditional instruments to everyone, regardless of experience.
Founder & Lead Instructor
Harnam Singh Sandhu brings over 24 years of experience in Punjabi folk dance and folk orchestra. A 7-time Gold Medalist (India), he has performed on 1,100+ stages, including Zonal Finals, Inter-University Youth Festivals, and National-level Youth Festivals in India, along with public festivals, corporate events, and government cultural programs. He has also performed and provided coaching in India, Canada, the USA, and the UK.
Harnam has trained 10,000+ students, ranging from children (5+) to adults (50+), and has coached college teams across Punjab, including Jalandhar, Amritsar, Muktsar, and Phagwara. He has led numerous workshops across India and Canada, including sessions with non-Punjabi communities, using Bhangra as a powerful tool for fitness, cultural connection, and confidence building.

College Amritsar, GNDU Campus Jalandhar, Law College Amritsar, and B.Ed College Amritsar etc.
Currently, Harnam is providing coaching in Calgary at his academy, Folk Crew Dance Academy Calgary, where he guides students of all ages in authentic Punjabi folk dance.

Gidha Instructor
Manpreet Kaur is a highly experienced Punjabi folk dance professional with a strong academic foundation and a lifelong dedication to Punjabi culture. Her journey in Giddha began in 2004, and since then she has performed and coached on numerous cultural and competitive platforms.
She is a Best Performer awardee at Youth Festivals and a 1st Position holder at GNDU both Zonal and Inter-Zonal youth festivals competitions, highlighting her excellence and consistency as a folk
Artist.
She has coached multiple university teams for competitive events and is widely recognized for her energetic teaching style, creative choreography, and performance-focused training approach.
Currently, Manpreet Kaur serves as a key instructor at Folk Crew Dance Academy, Calgary, where she trains students with discipline, confidence, and cultural authenticity while preserving the true spirit of Punjabi folk dance.
